WHY INSTAGRAM?

• Teens leaving Facebook

• Teen and young adults are all over Instagram

• 39% of users are 16-24 year olds

BYU IG BACKGROUND

• Started in September, 2013

• Posted 8 BYU file photos (campus scenics)

• Watched the #BYU hashtag

BACKGROUND

• Just 100 followers in the first week

• Just 300 total followers in the second week

BACKGROUND

• Tried a hard launch on Oct. 8, 2013

• Posted about it on the BYU Facebook page and BYU.edu

• Asked users to tag us in their homecoming pics

• Went from 823 followers to 1237 by the end of the week

• Campaign was mildly effective, but it was our monitoring and interactions on a individual user level that was really helping us grow and providing cool anecdotes.
