However, taking time off and getting away from the business can allow a CEO to return recharged, with a fresh eye.

It can also give the executive the chance to learn from other businesses, such as a great restaurant or hotel enjoyed during a trip.

Perhaps most importantly, letting the company run on its own for a little while is one way of testing the effectiveness of policy and workplace culture.
