FIRE PROTOCOL Problem Anticipation Literature Dr Ritesh Malik

Why is this information module important? • Fire is an entity which will breakout because of the lack of

structural infrastructure in India • We need to be always prepared • Legality involved • Safety of our guests and team members • Safety of the premises

Cause of fire outbreak? • 90% of the fire outbreaks are because of an interim gadget

such as blower, fridge or AC short circuit • ARSON: in 10% of the cases the fire is started by a hidden

maligner

What infrastructure should we have to prevent a massive black swan?

• Fire regulations to be up do date • Extinguisher fuel (CO2) to be up do date • Papers of the refilling of the fuel • Sand in red pots on every floor (The most effective way) • Water pipes to be continuously checked, whether they’re in

working condition or not • The temperatures of our electricity holding units at the terrace

should be always controlled. They are another cause of fire outbreak

Fire In charge • Every organisation must have a fire in charge. • Responsibilities: Inspector of the paper work Inspector of the protocol Inspection of all the electrical appliances Total responsibility of the fire department of the organisation Refilling of the fuel / sand / water tanks Weekly FIRE meeting head

Legal perspective • All paper work

should be up do date • All the guest ID’s

should be accumulated, so that there is no discrepancy when police enquiry occurs

• A total new area in the office dedicated to the policy of fire management

FIRE DRILLS • Whenever the occupancy of

a business is low • We should keep a fire drill,

this will help us anticipate all the things which might not work at the time of emergency

• FIRE DRILLS should be performed monthly

• A register should be kept for monitoring

Smoke Detectors • Public areas should have smoke detectors • It is a must

Fire Regulation Protocol • Whenever there is an outbreak of fire • Don’t panic, but be on the highest action form • Call FIRE DEPARTMENT • Take all your team members and all the fire management

equipment's at the site and fight with the fire • Call the promoters and everyone involved in the business so that

we all can handle the situation together. • Control the fire but not at the cost of your life. • Clear the area. • POINT OF ORIGIN TO BE DETERMINED

Servo • Every business must have a servo • Electricity is very erratic in india. So a servo helps control the

voltage fluctuations

What your room should never have

• Blower • Any highly inflammable item

When you’re not in the room the lights should get switched off automatically

• The CARD system at Woodapple should switch off everything but AC

• On every checkout Electricity monitor should inspect

Refills of extinguishers

Small fire extinguishers in every room?

Post fire sentiment management • Collect all the people • Increase the number of heads • Reputation management • Do not speak a lot • Give sometime to the situation and wait untill everything is

fine

Be prepared always!
