Claymation

A Carnegie Media Student produced this small claymation animation using premier pro software. The student made the figures using plasticine clay, the software created a ten frame per second sequence which although looks good is a little bit shaky.

Stop motion animation

Wallace and Gromit is a good example of stop motion animation which uses twenty four frames per second to achieve a smooth animation for film and television.

Battleship 2012 Special Effect

The movie Battleship made in 2012 uses the latest computer animation for special effects this creates photo realistic images and has revolutionised the movie industry.

A Whole World Created

James Cameron’s film Avatar not only creates the entire world that the film is set in, but it creates most of the characters and creatures which makes movie making out of this world.

Movement Capture

To create a realistic performance real actors are fitted with censors to capture the movement of the character this is then used by the animators to create the digital character.

Movement Capture 2

Another fine example of what can be done with movement capture. This created the character of Ceaser from the film Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Movement Capture Demonstration

The actor Andy Serkis is best known in the business for movement capture creatures from King Kong to Golum and Ceaser from Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
