SMS BASED IRRIGATION SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION

In this fast growing electronic world any work or any operation can be done

by sitting in a remote place. No need to go near work place. In this project

irrigation can be controlled by sitting in a remote place itself.

DESCRIPTION

This project “SMS BASED IRRIGATION SYSTEM” contains 8-bit

microcontroller P89V51RD2, GSM module, GSM mobile, DC motor driver, DC

motor, alphanumeric LCD, buzzer, temperature sensor, water sensor, ADC 0809

and power supply. Here if the owner sends a SMS to switch ON the DC motor then

this module will switch ON the motor and start pouring water to plants. The water

sensor is used to detect the water level. If it detects the water then this module will

automatically switch OFF the DC motor. The temperature sensor is used to read

the temperature around that place. This read temperature value is displayed on the

alphanumeric LCD. ADC is used to convert analog value to digital value. The

buzzer is used to make beep sound once the SMS received from the owner. Once

the DC motor switched OFF, that information will be sent to the owner mobile.

8051 architecture based P89V51RD2 microcontroller from NxP is used to

implement this project. Microcontroller acts as the heart of the project, which

controls the whole system. It contains 1k RAM, 64k Flash, 3 Timers, 2 external

interrupts, 1 UART, 32 GPIO’s, ISP programming support etc. KEIL IDE is used

to program the microcontroller and the coding will be done using Embedded C.
