Make sure you create Policies for your data, such as the ownership, the retention , the data loss prevention and the security or sensitivity classification.

Also make sure that the implementation of these policies are part of someone's job, meaning make sure someone is in charge of implementing the regulations which you are putting into place.

Having audits yearly or more frequently is also very important in making sure the implementation of your data policies is being done
