Lines of metal paste on front
of cell
Power output drops as the thin paste reflects light and corrodes.
More metal paste on back
of cell
The paste gives no strength. Cell can crack and lose power when exposed to vibration.
Thin, weak connectors
If just one of these narrow ribbons breaks, the entire cell fails.
Maxeon Sunpowercells
Conventional crystalline cells
No grid lines on front of cell
Maxeon cells absorb more sunlight and look great too.
Solid copper back plate
A thick copper foundation adds great strength and is highly resistant to corrosion.
Extra thick connectors
Built-in strain relief means that connectors aren’t affected by expansion and contraction caused by changing temperatures.
More and people are using solar power in their motorhomes, caravans and boats.Conventional panels made with are fine when mounted in rigid frames which ensure that the cells aren’t subjected to movement. When this type of cell is put into a thin “semi-flexible” panel however, vibration and movement can cause the cells or the connector strips to break, causing total failure of the panel.
“SunFlex” panels from RoadPro use SUNPOWER cells which are constructed in a completely different way and don’t suffer from the same problems as crystalline panels. They’re more powerful as well with efficiency rated at 20%+ and, at just 2.4Kgs for a 100W panel, they’ll save weight too.
crystalline cells
RoadPro’s SunFlex solar panels are very flexible as well. We don’t recommend mounting them like this but, bend them this far and they won’t break.
Cell Failures Virtually Eliminated
RoadPro’s SunFlex panels are available in sizes from 75W to 140W.Self-adhesive versions can be easily fixed to a vehicle’s roof and, if necessary can be removed easily too.
