In a car suspension system, shock absorber is the most important part.

Purpose Of Shock Absorber

Shock absorber is a device that works for suspension

movement.

It can control vertical oscillations or bounce of

suspension. It also gives comfort & economy driving.

Function Of Shock Absorber

Function

Shock absorber upper end is attached to car body & piston is attached to its

lower end, the piston moves up & down due to oil.

When piston push down to working cylinder, oil flows from below to the above part of the piston, oil flow is

regulated by valves.

Basic Principle Of Shock Absorber

At the time of function of shock absorber, oil flows in opposite direction through piston valve.

Function of Air Shock Absorber

Air shock absorber is a load adjustable absorber that

exerts load on suspension.

It consists of an air chamber, piston & fluid.

It is a commonly used air absorber , provides smooth

& comfort driving.

Damper Shock Absorber

Functions

It consists of single or two

chambers with fluid or air

filled.

It has a configuration that can be

adjusted & it allows increase or decrease of

fluid level.

Twin Tube Shock Absorber

Functions

This type of shock absorber consists of two tubes & valves, the valves has piston tube, one is fitted

with outer tube, another is with inner tube.

The role of two valves & tubes makes an effective shock absorber but it only works when there is a

limited work space.

Spring Shock Absorber

Functions

This type of shock absorber is fluid filled & has a rebound unit in the

center.

The spring shock absorber absorbs shocks through a

spring.
